PLAYFUL PATHS TO LOVE: BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY

So, this may be an unpopular opinion, but to be completely honest, Bridget Jones’s Diary is not my favorite Pride & Prejudice movie adaptation. My favorite is the 2005 Pride & Prejudice with Kiera Knightley & Matthew Macfayden. But I do enjoy Bridget Jones’s Diary and it makes me laugh that Colin Firth gets to play Darcy in two different adaptations.

I think Bridget Jones’s Diary does a good job of modernizing the Pride & Prejudice story. I really like how Colin Firth plays Darcy in this movie. He is so quiet and awkward, but he pays attention to Bridget and cares and supports her in just the way she needs. From saving her job by giving an exclusive interview to going to get her a new diary, Mark is a great partner for Bridget. And how can you not fall for Mark when he says: “I like you very much just the way you are.”
